North Korea, Russia and Ukraine
We have written some time ago about North Korean support for Russia in Ukraine.
We published a piece on Breaking Defense in July 2024 about this development.
As we wrote: “A renewed alliance and military support being provided to Russia by North Korea must be seen as a significant development. It is already acknowledged that China is providing military assistance to Russia’s actions in Ukraine, as is Iran.
“Embracing North Korea, a global pariah, is yet another part of Putin’s push demonstrate that Russia is indeed supported by other authoritarian powers who have same or similar objectives. This means that any United States led-alliance effort to isolate Putin and defeat him in Ukraine has become much more complicated.”
The Wall Street Journal recently posted a video on this subject and is worthy of watching.
Next year we are publishing our book entitled .
The Emergence of the Multi-Polar Authoritarian World: Looking Back from 2024.
We have argued:
The rise of the 21st century authoritarian states and movements have driven change in the global situation to which the liberal democracies have incoherently responded. And conflicts within our societies are providing significant rifts and disagreements which provide enhanced opportunities for multi-polar authoritarianism to further enhance their position.
Our essays track the significant global shift in power which has occurred over the past 15 years.
In this book, we have focused on key strategic developments over the past 15 years that seen a significant change from the American-led rules based order to one where the global disaggregation is clearly underway. The “rules based order” has shrunk and if the elites of the liberal democracies do not spend more time and resources on defending our world as opposed to infighting within their societies and with each other, it will shrink more.
