The Launch of the Devil Ray T18 SUSV
At the Euronaval show held in Paris in early November 2024, MARTAC announced the launch of the DevilRay T18 SUSV or smart USV.
This is the press release from the company dated 4 November 2024:
Maritime Tactical Systems, Inc. (MARTAC), an innovator in Smart Uncrewed Surface Vessels (SUSVs), is proud to unveil its much-anticipated Devil Ray T18 (5.8 m) SUSV, adding a new capability worldwide including to the over twelve countries where our products operate in harsh maritime environments. The base configuration Devil Ray T18 (T18) is designed as a high performance SUSV capable of burst speeds of 60+ kts, open ocean cruising range starting at 300 nautical miles, and a payload capacity up to 750 pounds. Designed with a common hardware and software architecture as the larger Devil Rays, the T18 has the same proven maneuverability and stability across sea states. In addition to these capabilities, the T18 can also be stealthily transported worldwide in a 20-foot CONEX box allowing operators to transport and store these systems without detection.
Customers worldwide have asked that the T18 be designed and developed to empower operators to execute missions with multiple advanced above and below-surface sensors over a reliable multi-channel comms architecture. The ability to easily integrate multiple payloads and communication packages complements the T18’s cross-domain capabilities. The T18 is MARTAC’s commitment to providing its customers the finest in ruggedized, reliable, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology that can be easily transported worldwide to meet the continuing challenges of projecting maritime naval capabilities and performing commercial operations.
Unlike many new entrants in the market, MARTAC’s vision of designing and developing SUSVs capable of operating “Beyond Human Capability” is a reality TODAY. In addition to superior performance, the Devil Ray T18 utilizes MARTAC’s current and in market advanced autonomy that includes full COLREGS compliant Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) providing the level of trust necessary to conduct missions with significantly reduced human intervention or oversight, even during operation in denied environments. In addition to its inherent autonomy, the T18 is built on an agile technology stack which is the only multi-country validated Interoperable and Interchangeable (I2I) allowing easy adoption of emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities by partner nations.
MARTAC combines this leading edge SUSV System with a Global Operations Team that has years of experience in training, operations, and maintenance and sustainment support with customers to introduce uncrewed systems in their maritime security operations. MARTAC’s SUSV solutions are truly turnkey NOW to address customer’ security problems.
Bruce Hanson, MARTAC’s CEO said “We listened to our customers and are excited about the launch of our T18 System that can be transported in a 20-foot CONEX box while also maintaining the power and sea capability of our larger Devil Ray Systems that have been deployed in real world environments for years. We see the T18 as a system that will be a powerful ISR interdictor while augmenting manned operations and systems. MARTAC’s Devil Ray SUSV series truly operate “Beyond Human Capability”. The T18 System is available now and MARTAC is a fully vertically integrated company and building out our capacity to scale for 2025. Other press releases will be forthcoming on this topic. Stay tuned.”
