The Royal Australian Navy welcome Chilean Navy tall ship Buque Escuela Esmeralda to Sydney on 1 August 2019.

Guided missile frigate HMAS Melbourne and STS Young Endeavour met Esmeralda outside Sydney Heads and led her into harbour.

3 other tall ships based in Sydney joined the activity, along with a Port Authority NSW fire tug.

As Esmeralda approached Garden Island, it fired a 21-gun salute.

The Royal Australian Navy responded with a 3-pound saluting gun firing blank rounds.

The four-masted barquentine, with a crew of 278 Chilean Navy personnel, is visiting Sydney as part of her 64th training cruise.
