Indo-Pacific Endeavour 21 (IPE21)
Ships deployed on Indo-Pacific Endeavour 21 (IPE21) conducted the biennial maritime Malaysian-Australia Exercise (MASTEX).
MASTEX allows for training, information sharing and collaboration across different areas of government, in particular in defence cooperation.
HMA Ships Canberra and Anzac partnered with Royal Malaysian Navy Guided Missile frigates KD Lekiu and KD Jebat to carry out intricate manoeuvres, boat drills, a night encounter exercise, and a live-fire gun exercise.
The ships were also supported by two Royal Malaysian Air Force Hawks for air defence exercises. IPE21 is Australia’s flagship regional engagement activity, reinforcing Australia’s strong and enduring partnerships in Southeast Asia.
